“Explore Your Wild Nature: A Jungle Safari for Your Mind, Body and Spirit”
With: Wendy Slotton, Ph.D.

We'll examine some of the ways we define ourselves with labels, titles and roles. Who are we beyond our labels of man, woman, single, married, engineer, teacher, daughter, son etc.? Through a meditative exercise, we'll expand beyond these definitions. As we release the definitions, we'll bring out our authentic selves and let them play. We'll uncover our wild sides with tribal music as we relax our minds, move our bodies, and let our voices and spirits soar.

This will be a safe, non-judgmental opportunity for you to express yourself with breath, sound, and movement. Wear comfortable clothes to move in, and be ready to make some noise, have fun and explore your wild nature! Remember, when you allow your authentic self to shine, you are irresistible to others.

For those interested in a true jungle exploration, ask about Dr. Wendy's March retreat in Costa Rica at a beautiful, private rainforest reserve and wildlife refuge. This life changing journey integrates nature excursions with personal transformation exercises, yoga, meditation, breathwork, and sound explorations.

Review of this program:

The explorers who participated in Friday evening’s adventure had an opportunity to look at ways they defined themselves, to expand beyond those definitions, and to experience their authentic selves in a playful way. This was a mini taster of a weeklong retreat Wendy is leading this March in Costa Rica.

We tend to define ourselves with a variety of labels, and titles, and identify ourselves by our sex, race, religion, job, relationship status, family roles and more. You can take out a piece of paper right now and write I am __________. Then fill in the blank with the first 10 words that come to mind.

Some of the definitions that our group shared: works hard, student, mother, Italian, volunteer, dancer, warm climate person etc.

What if you could move beyond those definitions and travel from your head into your heart? After doing the Expansion Exercise (from “Resurfacing: Techniques for Exploring Consciousness by Harry Palmer), we focused on breathing fully and deeply and got our bodies up and moving to tribal drum music.

You can do this at home. Allow your stomach to expand fully when you inhale, and exhale through your mouth, letting out any sound, letting go of anything you’d like to release. Give yourself quiet integration time, relaxing and breathing deeply, knowing there is no way you need to be that you aren't already, there is nothing you need to do that you aren't already doing, and there is nothing you need to have that you don’t already have.

After this experience, participants said they released: tension, stress, judgment, rigidity, definitions, shoulds, need to, have to, labels, fear, self doubt, and moved from their head to their heart. The words they chose to describe themselves now were, I am: Queen of the Jungle, free flowing, entranced with life, vigorous, in my power, expanding, alive and free, joyous, complete, wild and my headache is gone.

This is what happened after an hour and a half, and the group noted that the more they expressed their authentic selves, the more they enjoyed life, and the more attractive they became to others.

Just think what might be possible in a week at a jungle paradise, enjoying a journey that will change your life. Through daily yoga, and transformational exercises that move your mind, body, heart and soul, you'll learn how to release old patterns and beliefs that don’t serve you, and to fully step into your own power. You'll have the opportunity to connect deeply with yourself, with others and with nature. This will be an empowering adventure with incredible nature excursions on a spectacular private wildlife reserve (www.ecoera.org).

Space is limited and enrollment closes on February 6, 2005 (The retreat is March 6-12). For more information, contact Wendy at (415) 925-1220 or DrWendy@InJoyLife.com
